What more can you expect from a girl who is phobic to crowds and confines to the scarcity of people and whose life orbits around RK Salai? My drive to Madipakkam did prove to me that it's the ubiquitous "Chennai tradition" that I apparently missed. The once scantily inhabited wilderness with bumpy roads brims with uber cool restaurants and salons and anything that you might find in the heart of the city. Nevertheless, the bumpy roads still remain an unshakeable hallmark. A stark contrast to this development is that it still houses more than 80% of uncivilized population. The ample crowd on both sides of the curvy roads, move like a wave completely ignoring any vehicle, big or small. It's impossible for me to drive without swearing. Insensitive to the clogged traffic, many drunken men hover around in a chaotic state. Narrow lanes just about 50 ft wide are arterial roads in Madipakkam. And that easily bears heavy overflowing buses with roadside romeos clinging to the windows. I'm not sure how people inside the old, rusty, creaky buses handle the bumps. That's something I don't want to investigate. Amidst high disorder, business runs smooth and people cross the roads effortlessly. Do they really care anyway! Whirls of dust everywhere, leave alone the piled up waste at regular intervals that Panchayat ignores almost always. This could be compared to Ranganathan street, the hub of Chennai economy and contamination. Finally, there's no better place on earth than my heavenly abode and my car!
