Stonestruck!

Conceived a myriad years ago
Hidden beneath the dry land
Tucked safe in Her arms
Lies a treasure
Unknown and unclaimed...
Encircled by stark darkness
Bearing no glisten
Lies a treasure
Untouched and unswayed...
He tamed and wielded the treasure
And gave it gloss and shine
It scintillates a brilliant spark
To make even the unswerving eyes blind...
Of all man's discoveries
This one stands tall
For it has bewitched
The hearts of all...
I stand today, as a regal owner
Of a priced possession...
Which will stay on to be
A perpetual wonder to my eyes...
I'm StoneStruck!

When parallels meet...

As the darkness begins to retire
As the zephyr ruffles the green leaves
As the dew decides to settle down on the grass blades
As the birds wake up from their scant slumber and chirp...
I too await that eighth minute
For him to smile on me....
To cast my first look on him
To carry myself through the day
To pursue him on his way...
I wish he takes me with him
For I can't bear his farewell at dusk
But soon I realize,
When parallels meet,
There is no life....

My first poem

A little girl with big dreams...
To touch the clouded sky with glistening seams...
I wonder what is beyond the sky...
I envision a sanctum forever mine...
There is no space for me below...
I live in a crowd I grew up to follow...
Solitude is so much fine...
Than to hear them whine...
Will I ever be a bird...
To fly to a place I call "my world"

I have a dream...

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
Ill cross the stream - I have a dream
I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
Ill cross the stream - I have a dream
Ill cross the stream - I have a dream
I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
Ill cross the stream - I have a dream
Ill cross the stream - I have a dream

Curiosity kills the.... what???

Saturday 7:30 am. We hadn't awoken then, afterall it's the weekend and the time to relax after a week of heavy relaxation... :P We live in a very serene locality mostly consisting of individual houses and few apartments. Our neighbour is an early bird and has a regular iyerish routine which most of you will probably be well aware of. The usual suprabaatham and the likes and prior to it a beautifully created kolam. If I ever attempted one, it'd probably be a combo of dots and doodles and squiggly lines to add the amateurish touch! Many in our community think it's a deficiency in me. :D Our neighbour had been keenly watching our routine ever since we stepped into this house, and found that it din't match her's. She couldn't contain her curiosity and today she broke out with the question "Maami (obviously, she din't address me), neenga yen kolam podardhilla?" Well huh... we don't want to feed the ants rice flour, we'd rather try pop corn!!! :P

Few months back, I attended a function. You know how the ladies get dressed for it. And obviously I'm in the list! :P I have a fetish for non-gold stuff and thin jewellery and sometimes prefer none at all. As soon as I stepped in, came few people swarming, to probe into the constituents of the metal thingie suspended from my ear! "Is it gold?, what metal is it then? how much is it?, why do u spend so much on non-gold jewellery?, where did u buy it?, what's the weight?, which factory is it from?, who imported it?, what make is it?, is it worth the money? etc etc etc." And they deem it a cheap thing to wear non-gold stuff, and conclude we are below poverty line! And yeah... I am honoured!!

How does it matter to the others if I were rich, had an awesome bank balance, 100 ships, 200 bangalows, 300 cars???!! I ain't got any plans to share it with others! :P Or how does it matter to the others if I were a pauper??? Have they got any plans of helping me rise up in life???!! How does it matter to the others if we did or did not draw kolams, did or did not wear gold, did or did not pray, did or did not do certain things that most people do???!!!

Curiosity kills... not just the cat, but.... everybody around!

Let's all look at our own lives instead of wasting time thinking about how others lead their's or we'll end up losing ours!

A Journey...

As Nox embraced the day, I close my eyes. In the benighted darkness are thousands of pictures. In my fruitless attempts to push them aside, I set foot on a journey backwards through time. Those moments of laughter, euphoria, sorrow, victory, failure, pain et al picture in my mind and move as if in a carousel. I wish I could relive those moments and make some corrections. Had I not faced few dark moments, I would take pride in calling myself the happiest of the happiest people. But that's the way life is. "You live and learn. At any rate, you live." I assuage myself with that thought in mind, and cherish those memories of the past before I smile my way to catch some Z's!

The Lost Life!

Mrs.X lives with her husband in a decent apartment in a metropolitan city. Everyday Mr.X left for work at an IT company. You know what it is to work at an IT company. Godzilla Pay, Teeny Weeny Sleep and most importantly, an Inflating Tummy!!
Mrs.X is on her own all day. A typical housewife and a proud possessor of two beautiful degrees, who loathes work and choses to sit at home and be a pretty homemaker.
She cooks, watches television, listens to radio, et al, yet boredom is part of her. There is no spice in her life. Same monotony all day!
Who can watch the idiot box all the time and listen to the same crap it spews all day! Poor Mrs.X!
She's fed up of this sick routine. The neighbors are no better. Gossip is their sensation! Who is dating who, who ditched who, who bitched about who, so on and so forth...
After too much carefull thought, she decides to work. She finds a job in the same company as her hubby's. Initially the DINK couple are as happy as ever because they get to travel together, work together and earn big money! Mrs.X is happy and gay for her long dwelt boredom has vanished!
Until that fatefull day of separation! Ahem... Shift Change!
Mr.X on day shift
Mrs.X on night shift
Mr.X leaves the threshold exactly at 8am every morning. Once upon a time his tummy suffered the damages of only one meal. Now, all day!
Mrs.X comes home at 10am every morning. Once a chubby looking, healthy wife, now looked like a malnourished zombie!
They hardly meet each other. The only days they meet are the weekends and it's just the best time for them to catch up with their lost sleep. Mrs. X has lost her peace of mind. Mr.X never had it in the first place!!
Wonder if they remember each other's faces!
What an amazing life anybody would crave for!!
But since they began to savour the arrival of the new comer ($$$) with a promising future, they don't give up. They look for investments. They crave for more and more and more money! They are constantly nudged by the $$$ Ghost!
Mrs and Mr X look older than they really are. Too much stress. Too much work. Too much planning. Too much greed and Too much of everything and NO KIDS!
This deadly routine persists and will do to eternity!
Is it necessary to plan for their future at the cost of their own life???
Someday, they will look back and wish they could live their lost life!
Think!!!

What an eyesore!!!

Do we live in a jungle?
Are we surrounded by hoodlums with disgusting demeanours?
Isn't there any respect for women?
Can't we walk around without attracting the attention of sick men?
The presence of stringent laws against erring men do not stop them from indulging in the continual annoyance of women. They take advantage of the fact that intimidated women fear making it public.
Isn't it a big curse to live in such a state?
Paaaah... What an eyesore!!!!

SPARKed!

When the entire city was plunged in ushering the new year, for some it proved to be bloodcurdling at a hotel in Madras. On account of the New Year bash, a wooden dance floor was set up over the swimming pool. Unable to resist the weight, the planks collapsed and people fell right into the 15 ft deep swimming pool and it sparked off chaos. Inspite of being aware of huge crowds, the hotel was reckless to have set up a platform which lacked solidity and strength. What is even worse is the hotel shrugs off any responsibility owing to this accident. The hotel denies any kind of refund and avoids any sort of comments. Though the hotel is likely to be sued, it is uncertain whether the same josh will prevail in taking the hotel to task. In due course of time, this issue might just fade away.

Is the value of life so cheap?? What is valued?? money or morality?? I wonder...
