Curiosity kills the.... what???

Saturday 7:30 am. We hadn't awoken then, afterall it's the weekend and the time to relax after a week of heavy relaxation... :P We live in a very serene locality mostly consisting of individual houses and few apartments. Our neighbour is an early bird and has a regular iyerish routine which most of you will probably be well aware of. The usual suprabaatham and the likes and prior to it a beautifully created kolam. If I ever attempted one, it'd probably be a combo of dots and doodles and squiggly lines to add the amateurish touch! Many in our community think it's a deficiency in me. :D Our neighbour had been keenly watching our routine ever since we stepped into this house, and found that it din't match her's. She couldn't contain her curiosity and today she broke out with the question "Maami (obviously, she din't address me), neenga yen kolam podardhilla?" Well huh... we don't want to feed the ants rice flour, we'd rather try pop corn!!! :P

Few months back, I attended a function. You know how the ladies get dressed for it. And obviously I'm in the list! :P I have a fetish for non-gold stuff and thin jewellery and sometimes prefer none at all. As soon as I stepped in, came few people swarming, to probe into the constituents of the metal thingie suspended from my ear! "Is it gold?, what metal is it then? how much is it?, why do u spend so much on non-gold jewellery?, where did u buy it?, what's the weight?, which factory is it from?, who imported it?, what make is it?, is it worth the money? etc etc etc." And they deem it a cheap thing to wear non-gold stuff, and conclude we are below poverty line! And yeah... I am honoured!!

How does it matter to the others if I were rich, had an awesome bank balance, 100 ships, 200 bangalows, 300 cars???!! I ain't got any plans to share it with others! :P Or how does it matter to the others if I were a pauper??? Have they got any plans of helping me rise up in life???!! How does it matter to the others if we did or did not draw kolams, did or did not wear gold, did or did not pray, did or did not do certain things that most people do???!!!

Curiosity kills... not just the cat, but.... everybody around!

Let's all look at our own lives instead of wasting time thinking about how others lead their's or we'll end up losing ours!
